Johnnie Traunwieser is an Australian recording and mixing engineer based in Los Angeles. Since moving to Los Angeles in 2009, he started out as the in-house recording and mixing engineer at Oscar-nominated composer John Powell’s 5 Cat Studios for 12 years. During that time, Johnnie worked alongside mixing legend Shawn Murphy and had the pleasure of working with other mixing greats including Alan Meyerson, Brad Haehnal, Pat Sullivan, Al Clay, Jeff Biggers, and Jack Joseph Puig. He’s worked with composers James Newton Howard, Hans Zimmer, John Williams, John Debney, Henry Jackman, Heitor Pereira, and Dom Lewis. Johnnie has experience recording orchestras on scoring stages in LA, the UK, and concert halls in Europe, and has worked in the studio with artists such as Sergio Mendez, Jónsi, Janelle Monáe, Kristin Chenoweth, Jemaine Clement, Jamie Foxx, P!nk, Nick Jonas, and Lang Lang.

2020 brought Johnnie a Pandemic and the joys of Parenthood. Deciding that this was a good time to strike out on his own, he went on a mission to turn his historic Spanish Colonial living room into a professional-quality Dolby Atmos mix room with screening capabilities. The space needed to be personally tailored for ergonomics, speed and efficiency, while still being able to deliver world-class mixes. Three years later, True Blue Engineering is ready for any facet of mixing and mastering.

When not glued to the mixing chair, Johnnie enjoys spending time with his wife, two daughters, and poodle. He plays the piano, tennis and fires up the barbie every chance he gets, as every good Aussie should.
