John Traunwieser is the in-house recording and mixing engineer at Oscar-nominated composer John Powell’s 5 Cat Studios. John has worked alongside Shawn Murphy since 2012, and has had the pleasure of working with other mixing greats including Alan Meyerson, Brad Haehnal, Joel Iwataki, Pat Sullivan, Al Clay, Jeff Biggers, and Jack Joseph Puig. He’s worked with composers James Newton Howard, Hans Zimmer, John Williams, John Debney, Henry Jackman, Heitor Pereira, and Dom Lewis. John has experience recording orchestras on scoring stages in LA and concert halls in Europe, and has worked in the studio with artists such as Sergio Mendez, Jónsi, Janelle Monáe, Kristin Chenoweth, Jemaine Clement, Jamie Foxx, P!nk, Nick Jonas, and Lang Lang.

John’s latest independent projects are the debut album of the California String Quartet and the Sony Playstation game “Knack 2” to be released in the fall of 2017, as well as an upcoming pop album for the band Karmina slated for release in 2018.

When not glued to the mixing chair, John enjoys spending time with his wife and pup in their new house in View Park. He plays tennis every Sunday, and puts a shrimp on the barbie every chance he gets, as every good Aussie should.
